As a Tennessee native I’m always thrilled to get back home. I’ll set up camp in Music City at the Hutton Hotel, then drive to the Wilson County Exposition Center in the a.m. for early-bird shopping. (I love seeing bumper-to-bumper junkers winding their way down the exit rampi) ( haul away my finds in my official CL Fair pickup truck bag. (Coming soon: A super-cute camper motif) If my parents can babysit (hint, hint), you may just find me singing (awful!) karaoke at Santa’s Pub, a dive bar in a double-wide. When Sunday evening rolls around here’s hoping I’ll be cruising home (at 30 mph) in the ultimate fair find: a vintage blue pickup.

This Hudson Valley town roughly two hours north of New York City, my old stomping ground, is as picturesque as they come. (The train ride is pretty to boot The historic Beekman Arms & Delamater Inn (above)is the classic spot to bunk-and a stone’s throw from the Dutchess County Fairgrounds-but you’ll find plenty of charming Airbnbs in the ares too. For dinner, The Amsterdam is a delicious bet, but this year, after filling my Susannah Thompson burlap tote with fair finds, I’m eager to try Gaskins in nearby Germantown.

My husband is from Ohio (don’t get him started on football), so we spend a lot of time in The Buckeye State. I recommend Le Méridien Columbus, The Joseph in the bustling Short North Arts District, and reserving a table nearby
at The Pearl. (Save
room for pie can’t wait to see what treasures will go in my Selina Vaughan seed sack tote while shop ping the picturesque Ohio Village. This year, Kenny Chesney takes the stage at Columbus’s Mapfre Stadium on June 16, so I’m sure the day will end with a singalong of “Back Where I Come From.”

You’ll find many attend ees camping at Stone Mountain Park, but as an Atlanta native I like to
get my city fix at the downtown (dog-friendly) Ellis Hotel. After a day of perusing the park’s
paths-with my Fount Leather Bellfield Tote over my shoulder-111 toast my vintage victories at Leon’s Full Service in nearby Decatur before heading to Cakes + Ale for the oven-roasted trout. No trip to the ATL would be complete with-out a Frosted Orange from The Varsity-the downtown location is open late Friday and Saturday nights.
